Parts Counterman – Pittsburgh, PA
JOB SUMMARY
The Parts Counterman C is responsible Responsible for selling parts to all customers in a professional manner, accurately process orders, and coordinate pulling product, shipment, or delivery to the technician/customer. Must have excellent communication and computer skills.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Function and Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls to provide price quotes, promote current parts and service specials, and solicit assigned accounts.
- Inform customers of companion part requirements and ensure they are exposed to the full product line.
- Assist customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Pull/fill orders from stock, notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts that need immediate attention, notify the service advisor and customer when special ordered parts are received and follows up on any back orders.
- Receive payment from customers or obtain credit authorization and ensure that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, is available to verify the purchase & pricing.
- Maintain and organize cores and warranty parts from customers/shop.
- Participate with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.
- Stage and invoice orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up and assist drivers with loading.
- Perform shipping and receiving duties.
- Keep work areas, computer terminals, and printers clean and uncluttered while maintaining professional appearance.
- Participate in training programs that are made available to keep current on new products and updates.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience.
- Parts related experience a plus.
- Must possess and use good interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact well with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner.
- Must be able to read and write in English and understand computer generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
- Must be able to operate various computer diagnostic devices, PC’s and laptops. Ability to operate various computer systems and/or CDK-DMS a plus. Bilingual a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk and deliver parts to service counter and service bays during an 8-hour work shift.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50+ lb. parts to a height of 44 inches.
- Will be required to reach, climb, twist, crouch, kneel or stoop to retrieve parts from shelves.
