Back Order Specialist – Allentown, PA
JOB SUMMARY
The Back Order Specialist is part of the Procurement Team and will be responsible for obtaining price quotes from suppliers per customer specifications, processing daily purchase orders, managing deliveries from suppliers, along with various aspects of inventory control.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS –
Function and Responsibilities:
- Create, issue, expedite, and track purchase orders as required. Review suggested orders and determine order appropriate order quantities.
- Review customer orders and contact outside suppliers for quotes and delivery schedules.
- Identify bulk purchase opportunities and communicate with supplier on achieving maximum discounts.
- Coordinate daily cycle count process and review and investigate cycle count exceptions and discrepancies.
- Analyze inventory levels and product demand to determine reorder levels which will ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs.
- Review obsolescence report and determine disposition of parts.
- Work with parts managers on forecasts for new products to determine appropriate stocking levels.
- Maintain communication with vendors regarding supplier incidents, shortages, damaged items, discrepancies, and back-orders and maintains related documentation.
- Review daily receiving report to verify receipts against items ordered along with comparing invoiced price to purchase order price.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma, Associate Degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years inventory and purchasing experience.
- Automotive parts knowledge a plus.
